Breezing to Burscough Farm

We leave our start point and head along quiet roads through South Ribble pasing through Whitestakes, midge hall and Ulnes Walton. from here we head to Croston where we tackle aslight incline to Mawdesley . From this point on it is a flat route to Rufford and across the moss to the edge of Burscough. We then crisscross the canal to reach our welcome coffee stop.

After our break we retrace our steps back to the canal crossing but turn left to head past Martin Mere and Windmill farm on our way to Mere Brow. E then cross green lane and head through Sollom and on to Bretherton and Much Hoole. here we join the cycle paths that take us back to our starting point.

This is achallenging route aimed at women who want to increase the length of their rides. The route is flat but the wind can make it a challenge.

We will ride mainly on country lanes. The route is suitable for road bikes and hybrids with road tyres. all bikes must be in road worthy condition. We will carry out a bike check prior to the start but please check your bike before joining the ride. We aim to average 10-11 mph

We plan to stop at Burscough farm for coffee and snack but there will be plenty of opportunities along the way to stop for a breather, drink or snack.

Please bring some water, a snack and some money if you wish to purchase food or drink at the coffee stop. Be prepared for warm/ wet weather conditions. Riders are advised to wear a helmet and it is compulsory for those under 18 to wear a helmet. Please carry a spare inner tube and tools necessary to carry out a puncture repair covid 19 :please carry a mask and hand sanitiser.

We are a small friendly group of women who enjoy a social ride around the scenic lanes in the area and a friendly chat over coffee. We love to welcome new members and we never leave anyone behind.
