Come and join me on this ride from Merseyside into Lancashire, which will give you a chance to test yourself on a route that covers 30 miles. We will leave from Waterloo Station in South Road, and follow the Crosby Coastal path up to Formby. Then we will head inland, on a quiet road, heading gently uphill for a few miles towards Ormskirk. From there, we make our way through Bickerstaff to our refreshment stop at Inglenook Farm, near Rainford. Then it is a pleasant ride on quiet lanes back to Maghull, where you can take the Merseyrail train either back to Liverpool, or via Sandhills, back to Waterloo. This ride is mainly on quiet roads, but will require some experience of riding in traffic and a good level of fitness. We will aim to travel at around 12-14 mph. Whilst there are lots of food and drink options at the farm, after 23 miles, it's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack if you think your energy levels may need topping up along the way. Wearing a helmet is advisable, though not essential, and please remember to wear warm and waterproof clothing. Please bring some money if you want to buy refreshments, and to take the train back home.
