Starting point

Powys Radnorshire
SY21 7DY

This route has some challenging slopes (all these can be taken at your own pace or even walked). Please note that it is a challenging route because of these slopes.

We will leave Welshpool and head out towards Leighton, from there we will on some B roads through Forden and Caerhowel. Following this we cross the A483 (care will be taken here) and head up to the National Cycle Route 81 which will take up down to Berriew (and our cafe stop).

From here we will rejoin the National cycle route and meander our way back to Welshpool (sorry a few slopes in the way but a great time to enjoy the scenery). We come back through Welshpool to the car park

This ride is around some beautiful countryside in Powys - yes it comes with some slopes but a great cafe stop at Lychgate Cottage tearooms.

Most of the roads are small and quiet country lanes, we do cross the A483 at one point but we can dismount for this if needed. It is noted that some of the roads have a lot of loose gravel in the centre of the road but this area can be avoided. We also use the Cycle route 81 for some of our way back from the cafe stop

The cafe stop is at approx 13 miles and is the Lychgate Cottage tearooms which is a very popular place to eat in Berriew,

Please remember that all bikes should be in good working order, also all participants must be wearing a helmet to ride. Bring appropriate clothing for the weather - yes we are in Wales and it rains even if the forecast is for sun (as discovered on another ride).. The cafe will take cards and of course there is no necessity to partake in refreshments if you prefer not to

First-timers welcome!
