Cycling through Thornes Park we cross Denby Dale Road (using pelican crossing) onto a quiet side road which will see us to a short section of main road before crossing the foot bridge to the Hepworth Gallery.
From there we cross Doncaster Road (using the pelican crossings) and cycle along tracks to join the River Calder. After skirting the river we venture through the wood towards Kirkthorpe Lane, turn right up an incline towards Heath Village.
Following the track down over Heath Common we cross back over Doncaster Road (using pelican crossings) onto a short section of cycle path. We will then travel on road along Oakenshaw Lane, a short distance of 0.6miles before turning left into Walton Nature Reserve.
Walton Nature Resever is a beautiful tranquil woodland which is reclaimned land from Waltons colliery days. Filled with the wonderful sights and sounds of nature there will be plenty of wildlife for you to spot and listen to.
We leave Walton Nature Reserve and travel on Oakenshaw Lane for 100yards turning right onto a cycle track that runs parallel with the train track running in and out of Sandal Agbrigg station.
As we reach Sandal Agbrigg train station we turn right onto Agbrigg Road following this for 200yards before turning onto quieter side roads to Barnsley Road.
Using the pelican crossing over Barnsley Road we follow quiet side roads into the back of Pugneys Country Park. Leaving the park via the main entrance we follow Denby Dale road using the cycle path all the way back into Thornes Park, after crossing Denby Dale Road using pelican crossings.
We follow the park paths passed the duck pond and round the park to finish back at Thorns Park Athletics Staduim entrance.
The ride will be approximately 1.5 hours
Don't worry about being left behind, you won't be. We will ride together as a group, waiting and supporting each other.
