Starting from the Watford Cycle Hub, this scenic summer mystery tour may take you to places you have never been!
It is best suited to road bikes, hybrids with road tyres, gravel bikes, and e-bikes. It is not suitable for adaptive cycles or mountain bikes. You must be able to carry your bike up a flight of stairs (approx 20, with a handrail!) as this mystery tour involves at least one station with no lift... (We can provide assistance as a group if needed).
Please bring a bike lock as we plan to stop for refreshments on the ride.
The mystery tour will start with us riding to a nearby station. (Train / Tube - who knows?) Please bring a contactless card (not Oyster) to pay for your trip. We are not going too far away - the maximum return cost will be less than £10.00.
Once at our mystery destination, we will do a scenic loop of the area, stop for refreshments and make our way back to the station. It may not be the same station! ;)
Please dress for the weather (which could be anything even at this time of year!), wear a helmet and gloves, ensure you have enough water and snacks to fuel you on your mystery adventure! Bring a spare inner tube or two, a small bike toolkit if you have one, lights on your bike, and a sense of fun and adventure!
Note: this ride is marked as 'Challenging' due to the distance (over 20 miles) and also we will be encountering some particular hilly sections! Lighter weight bikes with skinny tyres and good hill gears are recommended - but don't worry, we will go at a steady pace, enjoying the sights and sounds of the countryside, but never leave anyone behind.
Please arrive by 10:20am so we can run through a riders register and bike checks before we set off.
Please note this tour may take up to 4 to 5 hours - with up to 2 to 3 hours of riding time, depending on the route we take. We therefore may not be back at the Cycle Hub until approx 3:30pm. Please plan the rest of your day accordingly!
If you have any questions (apart from "Where are we going?", which will remain a mystery to you until we are there!), please contact me.
Thanks
Helen.
