On the corner of Garson Park at Coates Way, just off St. Albans Road, Watford

A steady 13 mile (total) ride from Garston Park in Watford to St. Albans and back, taking in mainly quiet roads and country lanes, with a few gentle inclines. This ride is part of a special day of tribute rides to Billie Fleming happening on 15 Feb. Billie set a world record for cycling in 1938, and died last year aged 100. She rode each day, regardless of the weather and clocked up nearly 30,000 miles in a year! On the 15 Feb 1938 her diary recorded "13 miles of local calls", so we are honouring her by running lots of 13 mile long rides on the anniversary. For more information about her see the Facebook page for Billie Fleming Tribute Rides 2015 or visit www.tributetobillie.co.uk We meet at Garston Park on the corner of Coates Way. There is free parking in bays. We ride on mainly quiet roads and country lanes until reaching St. Albans. We will head into the park in St.Albas and have some refreshments in town before heading home on the same route. Any kind of bike is fine for this ride, although part of it can be a little muddy. Please check your bike over before we ride, pump up your tires for an easier ride, and bring a spare inner tube in case of a puncture. Please also bring a lock, money for refreshments and water. Helmets are recommended but not compulsory, Please like our Breeze Network Herts page to keep up to date with rides in the area.
