Hi ladies!
This ride is especially for you if you wanted to enjoy the beauty of the Chilterns on your bicycle, but have not been on a Breeze, SkyRide or Ride Social before because you are afraid of being too slow, or not being able to cycle up hills very well! I've been there myself!
However you probably need to have cycled 15 miles or so before, have some proficiency in using your gears, and be comfortable at least on minor roads and country lanes. This is not a beginners ride but the next tier up! : ) The total elevation (that means how much hill climbing) is 1,054 foot (321.26 meters). However the pace will be very gentle and accommodating! - I promise : ) If you've been doing the canal tow path, or riding down the Ebury Way, and have done a few hills before, want a new challenge, & to enjoy beautiful countryside without the fear factor of being too slow - this ride is for you! : )
Graceful Greens Category: 15-20miles, at about 8-10mph, but slower if you need, especially on hills! : )
The 'Graceful Greens' category in Herts, means walking up hills is actively encouraged! We simply want to help you get out into the lovely countryside and enjoy it, and when it's Liz and me working as a team, (or Fiona and Sarah - Watford Cycle Hub Breeze Rides on Saturday), one of us will always be 'tail-end-charlie' to encourage and support the last rider - it is our joy to do this -it's why we became Breeze Champions! : )
This particular route
Ok, so I cheated a bit and logged it into SkyRide at 19.9, to get the 'Steady' Categorisation; the route is 20.1 - just so you're are not in the dark that we're doing an extra 200m!
We will ride out from Watford Cycle Hub, via Croxley Green, through Chandlers Cross and along the well known and locally loved 'Plough Lane' to the equally well loved pub 'The Plough' at Belsize, where Julia the land lady has agreed to open her pub just for us for morning tea and coffee - so please sign on so I know numbers for her! Julia is also letting me bring some of my mother's homemade chocolate brownies for you, as the pub doesn't serve food 'til 12. : )
We will then ride into Flaunden and loop down to the River Chess and back up into Flauden by the gentlest and most gradual climb - the challenge is only really towards the end of it! We will pass through Sarratt, Loudwater, and return through Croxley back to Watford Cycle Hub.
If you need a recommendation for somewhere local for lunch - just ask me post ride!

Strava is free to sign up to, and the mapping tool is great!
I may alter the route a bit due to group needs, or if the bluebells have come out by then!: )
Please bring: a drink, a snack, spare inner tube, a presta pump if you have presta valves, & clothing appropriate to the conditions on the day.
I really look forward to riding with you!
All the best,
Georgia
