Join us on a ride along the seafront to Seaford. We'll be aiming for an average speed of 12mph. Suitable for road bikes and good hybrids (mountain bikes, fold-ups, or small wheeled shoppers might struggle!).
After dropping down to Hove seafront from Hove Park, we’ll head east along the cycle paths, passing Brighton pier, Rottingdean school and the Rottingdean windmill. We’ll continue past Rottingdean village and Peacehaven to go through Newhaven (resisting the urge to catch the ferry to France!) and head to Seaford beach for a cuppa and cake before turning ourselves around to head back towards the setting sun.

This is the third of a series of TRAINING RIDES, for women wanting to increase their speed or endurance ready for longer rides in the summer. If you've entered a sportive or challenge ride such as Diva Sussex, Cycletta, or London to Brighton, then this Saturday afternoon series will help you get ready.
This third ride has some rolling hills along the cliff tops, and we may have head winds on one of the legs of the ride (but tailwind the other way!). If you're tired by the time we get to Newhaven, you have the option of catching the train back to Brighton or Hove. We can also cut the ride short at Newhaven, bringing the total ride length to 26 miles instead of 32. We can also take the UnderCliff Walk shared use path back between Rottingdean and Brighton Marina, cutting out some of the cliff top rolling hills when we return.
Please bring spare inner tube, layers to keep warm, money for the café stop, and water. Depending on the speed we ride at (we never leave anyone behind), and any options for cutting the ride short or taking less hilly alternatives, we could arrive back in Hove at dusk. Please therefore also bring lights.
