Starting point

Tyne and Wear
NE16 3BN

NOTE: STARTING POINT - If you're using SatNav the postcode doesn't work. Head for Blaydon Rugby Club on the B3617. Just to the left of the entrance into the Rugby Club there is a small road which leads up to the Derwent Walk Country Park and the car park is at the end of this road.

This will be a leisurely, social ride - perfect for beginners or if you've not been on you bike for a while. Allow plenty of time for chatting over coffee and cake.
After meeting in the car park at Swalwell Visitor's Centre we'll go up (very gently uphill) the Derwent walk towards Rowlands Gill. Depending on the weather and how we are all feeling, we can go a little further to the viaduct near Hamsterley Mill.
We will call in at the National Trust tea shop at Gibside (free entry and free tea or coffee with your snack for cyclists - so bring some money for scone/cake).
This will be a very gentle ride of 8 - 10 miles with plenty of stops to enjoy the lovely views. It is all on shared user cycle track, so it's the perfect ride if you are not very confident riding on the road. It can be a little muddy if the weather has been wet.
It's a good idea to bring a bike lock and a spare inner tube.
Newcomers to Breeze rides are especially welcome.
