This easy going 7.5 mile ride is suitable for women who have ridden a few miles before but want to stretch to a longer route whilst keeping on quiet roads and segregated park ways. We will visit the best of Barnet and Enfield parks with autumn colours as well as stop for a cuppa overlooking Grovelands lake.
We start at the Oakhill Park café in Barnet. After introductions, bike check and circuit of the park, we cycle along the Pymmes Brook to Arnos Grove Park. We then have a very short gentle climb to Brookfield Park before cycling through the Fox Lane LTN to Grovelands Park. Here we will stop for a drink and a snack overlooking the lake and wildlife. We then have a short trip to Oakwood Park, which was part of the royal hunting ground of Enfield Chase. You will see the 19th century ice well which remains from Samuel Sugden’s estate.
We then descend along quiet roads back to Oakhill Park.
Please ensure that your bike is in good working order and that brakes are working and tyres are pumped up. You will be required to wear a helmet. Do remember a mask, money/card, water bottle and layers as we will usually be sitting outside for our snack.
Covid Guidance: If you are showing any Covid 19 symptoms please do not attend the ride. If you develop any symptoms after the ride, do let me know so I can advise everyone who attended the ride to self isolate. We will do a bike check but will not be sharing equipment so ensure you have the tools and spares you need.
