Berrycoombe Road Car Park (Pay and Display £4.70 for the day)

There are two legs to the Camel Trail.   Leg One is Bodmin to Wadebridge (5 miles) and then Leg Two is Wadebridge to Padstow (7 miles). It's a beatiful route -well worth the 40 minute car drive for a special occasion. Leg One: runs along the bottom of a wooded valley punctuated by station stops for the steam railway with the River Camel bubbling along on your left.  We go past the foot of the Camel Vineyard after a couple of miles.  It's nearly all off road on a gravelled surface, easy riding (either flat and free wheeling on the way or flat but pedalling required on the return route).  There are some muddy patches.  The route is perfect for hybrids and mountain bikes and if you aren't precious about your road bike, just about ok but the wrists and your derriere will take a bit of a hammering! At Wadebridge, we have to navigate the town which does involve roads and traffic for 1/2 a mile. Leg Two will start at Bridge Cycles and is completely different as we pedal through more open country with amazing views of the Camel Estuary across to Rock and down to Padstow.  There's even a mini box bridge over an inlet.  Much opportunity for general paparazzi action. I'm planning on a fish and chip lunch at Padstow (but need to know numbers before I book anywhere). All of the Happy Monday's are capeable of the full distance (Bodmin - Padstow - Bodmin) which is 24 miles.  But if you are worried, please join us at 11:15 in Wadebridge at Bridge Cycles.  We should reach Padstow at 12:30.   You MUST bring: warm clothes (advise wooly hat under helmet or ear muffs.  Gloves are a must, lights for bikes on return just in case, water bottle.  You will also need money for your lunch / drink. Tinsel and Christmas 'Pimp my Bike' optional. Will aim to leave Pafstow at 13:15, be back at Wadebridge at 14:00 and Bodmin at 15:00.  But these times may well change in accordance with weather and the speed of the slowest cyclist so you must be flexible.  Any questions please call me on 07740200182 Don’t forget…. Breeze are on a mission to spread the word about their rides, and need your help. If you introduce one friend who goes on to take part in a Breeze ride, you’ll receive a Breeze water bottle, introduce a second friend, you’ll be the proud owner of one of their swish Breeze Buffs, and introduce a third friend and Breeze will send you £15 of Love2Shop vouchers.
