Burnley

A steady route along the tow path of the Leeds Liverpool Canal and through local parks to Pendle Heritage Centre. The tow path is mainly tarmac throughout and a suitable surface for any wheel. The Steven Burke Cycle hub at the halfway point provides an optional 1.1km to the overall distance.

The ride starts in the open country side of Reedley on the outskirts of Burnley and meanders its way through Brierfield and Nelson. As you cycle through you'll notice the old mill buildings and terraced houses which could tell a tale or two of the areas cotton heritage. As you reach the halfway point you leave the canal and cycle path down to Barrowford and Pendle Heritage Centre with its 18th century walled garden. You can stop here for a coffee or lunch.
From the Heritage Centre you retrace the route back to the canal and back to Reedleys open countryside. Despite the "built up" area there is probaly more wildlife along this route with Swans, Mallards,Moorhens, Canada Geese and a large family of Geese.
