Live2Ride, Waterloo, Frome

This route might only be 31 km long but it is taking in the first major climb on the Lionheart -Longcombe   Drive, plus a few other sneaky climbs!   Starting out from Live2Ride shop in Frome we will go upBath Street& out of Frome to the Blatchbridge roundabout. We will turn left, then right to East Woodlands & into the back of the Longleat Estate on Route 24. We will then join the Lionheart route & practice our ascent of Longcombe Drove. We'll continue on he Lionheart route as far as the Maiden Bradley crossroads before turning right back toward Frome. We will then turn right and climb back in to Horningsham before descending down the finish driveway of the Lionheart & retracing our steps back to Frome.   This is a ride aimed as those of you training for the Lionheart or any other sportive. Any of you capable of this distance and wanting to improve your hill-climbing skills are also welcome.    I would strongly advise fitting, at least, a rear mudguard (if you have one). This keeps you drier but it also saves the rider behind you from getting a face-full of spray. The lanes are a little wet & mucky & it's also hedge-cutting season, so please don't forget 1or 2 spare inner tubes. Please check that your bike is in good working order & that your tyres are pumped up.   Please only sign up if you know that you are capable of this type of ride, having said that, noone will be left behind  you are not expected to manage all these hills without some rests, this will include me !   To reiterate please don't attend this ride if you're not prepared to moderate your pace to suit the slowest rider. I estimate that the average pace will be 12-14 mph (taking al the hills into account!)   Don't forget a waterproof, layers of warm clothing,  a drink & a small lock if you have one.  I plan to stop off for a coffee back in Frome after we have ridden for anyone who would like to join me.  Probably at the new cafe in the Cheese & Grain.   I look forward to seeing you all there.   http://connect.garmin.com/course/5655609#
