Badcox Car Park Frome

This ride is specifically aimed at those of you who are signed up to ride the Lionheart in March. Although all of those of you training for longer, hilly rides are most welcome.   This ride focuses on the Batcombe loop of the Lionheart. It is undulating!   We will start at Badcox carpark in Frome & then head off to Nunney. Through Trudoxhill & then right to Witham Friary & through to Upton Noble. We will then pick up the Lionheart route & cross the Wanstrow road & head into the undulating Batcombe/Westcombe/Evercreech Vale.  We will then ride through Wyke Champflower & into Bruton, where we will stop for some refreshments at The Chapel (it might be a takeout if it's too busy).   We will then head out of Bruton in the Frome direction &  deviate from the Lionheart route & stay on the main road for the long slog back to Nunney Catch & then return back to Frome via Nunney.   This is a very undulating route & it is 30 miles. I would strongly advise fitting, at least, a rear mudguard (if you have one). This keeps you drier but it also saves the rider behind you from getting a face-full of spray. The lanes are a little wet & mucky & it's also hedge-cutting season, so please don't forget 1or 2 spare inner tubes. Please check that your bike is in good working order & that your tyres are pumped up.    Please only sign up if you know that you are capable of this type of ride, having said that, noone will be left behind  you are not expected to manage all these hills without some rests, this will include me ! To reiterate please don't attend this ride if you're not prepared to moderate your pace to suit the slowest rider. I estimate that the average pace will be 12-14 mph (taking all the hills into account!)   Don't forget a waterproof, layers of warm clothing, cake & coffee money, a drink & a small lock if you have one.    I look forward to seeing you all there.   The route:  http://connect.garmin.com/course/5646387
