A road route designed for the darker evenings on well lit roads around North Bury. Starting and ending at Burrs Country Park, we go along Woodhill Road, onto Brandlesholme Road, towards Bury Police Station on the cycle paths towards the paths behind Tesco and up along Hornby street-all the way up Walmersley Road to Bass Lane, down to Summerseat and back out into Holcombe Brook-along the main road to Hawkshaw, left towards Affetside and down into Walshaw, then back into Burrs. It has some long but gradual hills and is on some busy roads, so some confidence on roads at night is needed. But remember that in a group, you are more visible and more likely to build your confidence, so give it a try. As with all Breeze rides, we cater for all levels and welcome those who want to start cycling. You will need a well maintained bikes to cope with all weathers, check your brakes and tyres before you arrive and have a good working set of lights. Wear bright reflective clothing and bring a spare inner tube and pump in case the worst happens. If you haven't been on your bike for a while, a good service from a reputable bike shop is worth its weight in safety terms and get them to advise you on the best seat position too while you are there.
