PLEASE NOTE: THE SKY/BREEZE WEBSITE WILL CATEGORISE THIS RIDE AS STEADY. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE HILLY NATURE OF THE ROUTE, CHALLENGING IS MORE ACCURATE. This is one of my favourite rides with a great cafe en-route. It's a bit of a hilly ride, exploring the countryside around Broomley and Slaley. Most of the ride is on quiet country roads but there are some busier sections of road too, particularly near the end of the route. There are some short sections with steep hills and longer stretches of undulating terrain. It's suitable for you if: - you have been doing flatish rides of about 20/30 miles and you're ready for something a bit more challenging. - you are confident with your gears and your brakes. - you have a reasonable level of fitness but you lack confidence cycling on the road. - you are a confident cyclist but you'd like a social ride and you don't mind a bit of starting and stopping. - you like cake! You will need: - a spare inner tube - a snack and a drink - some money for a lunch stop at Hollybush coffee shop. They do a lovely range of quiches, baps, soups and delicious cakes - all home baked. A helmet is recommended but not compulsory. We always cycle at the speed of the slowest rider and never leave anyone behind - don't worry about the hills - it's a great work-out!
