Sat 25th May is Tommy Simpson (cycling legend born in Haswell) celebration day in Haswell with an event at the Lisa Dixon Centre on the afternoon. Not wanting to miss out we’ve organised a ride on the morning to return in time for the event, should you wish to attend.
Our ride will take us to the seaside at Seaham via East Hetton, Murton and Seaton. There will be time for a cuppa here before returning along the ‘road to nowhere’. The route is about 70% off road with a variety of quality of surfaces. Although fairly flat for County Durham standards there is a long pull out of Seaham so some level of fitness is needed.
I’d recommend a hybrid bike, but a mountain or road bike with chunkier tyres will also do the job. Please come suitably dressed for the weather conditions.
For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07795390871 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk. In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be out for about 3.5 hours but as always it is difficult to be precise Hope you can join us for a fun and friendly ride. If you want any more information email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. about timing. Jacki
