This challenging route takes us into the Peak District and to Bakewell, home of the pudding! We will tackle some tricky hills, but will enjoy some beautiful views and some fun descents too. While this route has some challenging moments, we will ride at a steady pace and no-one will get left behind.
We will set off from Millhouses Park and climb up to Owler Bar, before a lovely descent down to Baslow and the edge of Chatsworth Park. We then follow a quiet country lane to Hassop and onto Bakewell for our cafe stop. We return to Sheffield by riding up through Hassop, Calver and a long climb from Grindleford to Fox House, before descending back to our starting point.
We will be riding on rural roads with mostly good surfaces, but there will be some fast moving traffic that may overtake us quickly. Please ensure you are comfortable riding on fast roads before signing up.
We will stop for a brew and a cake (or Bakewell pudding) at the Lime Lounge in Bakewell.
Please bring a drink with you and some money for the cafe stop.
Please ensure your bike is in good working order and bring a spare inner tube, multi-tool/spanner and a pump with you. We’ll help you if you get a puncture, but you need to carry the right tube for your bike. :-) Helmets are advised but not compulsory.
