Outside Chesham Metropolitan Line Station

This ride takes in some of the most beautiful Chiltern countryside as we descend the Chess Valley from Chesham to Rickmansworth along quiet lanes. There are some hills (it is the Chilterns, after all) but you can push your bike up them if necessary and we always wait for the slowest rider. The views are worth it! There are a few short, busier stretches of road. Leaving Chesham we pass through Ley Hill, Latimer and Chenies before re-crossing the Chess and climbing to Sarratt. We'll have a welcome cuppa in The Boot before descending to Watford via Rousebarn Lane. From Watford we take the Ebury Way to Rickmansworth. This can be muddy, so may not be suitable for bikes with very smooth/thin tyres, especially after rain. To return by train you can leave the ride at Watford Met, Rickmansworth or, for the full 17-mile ride, Moor Park station. The leader will be taking the 0946 train with her bike from Pinner (Oyster card needed) arriving in Chesham at 1016. You can join that train at any point on the line, or meet at Chesham station. Don't forget to pump up your tyres, check your brakes are working and wheels turning, and bring water and a bike lock.
