A ride out to find 2 more of the Amber Valley Ducks, this time at Heanor. A longer more hillier ride than usual at around 50km with 400m climb. Starting from Parker's Piece this ride goes out on familiar territory to Coxbench and then uphill to Horsley Woodhouse and Smalley before descending to Shipley Park down Bell Lane. A short diversion into Heanor to find the ducks before taking the Nutbrook Trail towards Kirk Hallam and climbing again up to Stanton by Dale then descending once more into Risley. We will stop off at Lanes Garden Centre to refuel before returning to Derby via the Old Canal Path, Borrowash and Spondon
As usual we ride on a mixture of busier roads, country lanes and traffic free cycle paths - quite a bit of the latter this week with a few more lumpier bits thrown in, hence the longer riding time.
A stop for refuelling / refreshments towards the end of the ride - James' at Lanes Garden Centre as we haven't been here for a while.
Helmets are advised - I will be wearing one. The Covid / Virus bit - please do not ride if you are feeling unwell, you test positive or are showing signs / symptoms of Covid or other seasonal viruses. If you test positive or feel unwell / show signs or symptoms of Covid after the ride, please let the ride leader know. Please bring everything with you that you might need on the ride eg spares, tools, extra clothing, snacks and drink, sharing is not encouraged
