Outside The Bike Shop, 511 Pinner Road, North Harrow

This is a tribute ride in honour of Billie Fleming, who died last year aged 100 and in 1938 set a world record, never broken, for the most miles cycled in a year by a woman. On 23rd March 1938, her route included Neasden and Harrow, so these are our checkpoints. We shall cycle on quiet roads and cycle paths through South Harrow, Sudbury and Wembley to arrive in Neasden, passing the famous Hindu temple en route. Then we cross the North Circular to return via Wembley Park, Kenton and Harrow. There are a few sections with traffic, but it is mostly quiet. We shall stop in cafes for refreshments. The day before please check your bike over, pump up the tyres, check that the wheels turn freely and the brakes work. Bring a spare inner tube if you can change it, and an Oyster card in case you can't! We have a Facebook page - Breeze Network Harrow. Please Like the page to keep up to date with our rides, and share it with your friends.
