HA5 5PW

War Memorial, top of Pinner High Street

This ride is a tribute to Billie Fleming who set a world record in 1938 for the most miles cycled in a year by a woman. On March 16th 1938 a part of her route covered Mill Hill, where she lived, and Cricklewood. We take a circular route beginning and ending in Pinner, and including Wembley and Kenton. We shall pass the Welsh Harp reservoir but otherwise most of the route is on roads or cycle paths (sometimes alongside, but segregated from, busy roads). You need to be a competent cyclist and confident in traffic. We shall seek to average about 10mph. There is a short off-road section at the beginning, for which a hybrid is advised. We shall stop in cafes for refreshments. The day before please check your bike over, pump up the tyres, check that the wheels turn freely and the brakes work. Bring a spare inner tube if you can change it, and an Oyster card in case you can't! Please like our Facebook page Breeze Network Harrow to keep up with our rides, and invite your friends to do the same. If you have any queries or would like to join the ride part way through, please email [email protected]
