Breeze around North Hertfordshire! (Kimpton, Codicote, Whitwell, Peters Green) & enjoy Tea and Cake along the way!
This is a wonderful ride around some beautiful countryside in Hertfordshire, starting at The Boot Public House in Kimpton
http://www.thebootkimpton.co.uk/content/contact-us/.
Much of this ride is on quiet country lanes. Almost all of the route is flat but there are a couple of short hills.
We depart at 9.15 from The Boot pub car park. Please arrive 15 minutes early for a safety briefing and a quick bike safety check.
The ride is 19 miles long and we ride at the speed of the slowest rider,
stopping to re-group at the top of hills. This is a great opportunity for those who are returning to fitness or would like to build confidence riding on roads.
From Kimpton, we head towards Wheathampstead, then Codicote, passing Shaws corner - Playwright, politician, philosopher and wit George Bernard Shaw lived in this Edwardian villa for over 40 years from 1906 (
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/shaws-corner/).
We then push on to Codicote for a well-deserved refreshment stop at Vanstone Park Garden Centre
http://www.vanstoneparkgardencentre.co.uk/ to fill up on tea and cake. You’ll need a bike lock for the stop here.
After tea, we head for Whitwell, then Peters Green, finally returning to Kimpton.
Remember to wrap up warm, bring a spare inner tube, bike lock and money for cake!
See you there!
