From the Botanical Gardens we will cycle through the University grounds to enjoy the flora and fauna in some of the ponded and landscaped areas. We will then visit Howlands, South College, St Marys, Aidans and, if time allows, the Durham Riverbanks and adjoining landscaped areas before returning to our start point.
This is the first in our series of evening botany rides and will feature a talk by Julia, our expert ecologist.

Starting from the car park area of the Botanic Gardens we will cycle on cycle path and quiet roads around the city

Most of the route is traffic free, although there will be other cyclists and some pedestrians

We will be stopping to look at flora at 4 locations around the city

Helmets are always advisable, we also recommend clothing suitable for the weather. A drink and puncture repair kit and pump. Social distancing will be in place so please ensure that you do not bring anything to share. We also recommend that you bring a bike lock, as we will be stopping at various locations.

We especially welcome newbies!
