About the route
Parking at Risley Memorial Hall, post code RG7 1SD.
Lovely 24 mile rural ride out from the Memorial Hall, mainly along quiet lanes taking in the villages of Mortimer, Silchester ( site of the Roman Silchester amphitheatre), Bramley and Stratefield Saye before looping back to the car park. Coffee stop planned for the Bramley Bakery, which is well over the half way mark so a snack or banana might be worth thinking about. However if you can last, the bakery even does bacon butties along side all the scones and cakes!
The weather is set to be warm and sunny so please ensure you have sunscreen and plenty of fluids, along with the spare inner tube and pennies for refreshments is a good idea:). The route is certainly undulating so a good command of gears and plenty of energy is required. I have marked the ride as challenging on this basis.
