Breeze along the Nickey Line from Harpenden to the Old Town of Hemel - and enjoy Tea and Cake along the way! START - The Nickey Line, Harpenden, Near Roundwood Park Primary School - At the first level access avoiding steps near Moreton End Lane This route is a 13.6 mile 'out and back' route starting from and returning to Moreton End Lane. This ride is mostly on a traffic free cycle path which was once a railway line. It is suited to hybrid bikes. This is a mostly flat route with some undulation. The elevation gain throughout the ride is 538 feet. This is a wonderful ride through beautiful countryside and we will stop for coffee in the Old Town of Hemel before retracing our steps. We depart at 9.30 prompt. Please arrive 15 minutes early for a safety briefing and a quick bike safety check. We will ride at the speed of the slowest rider, stopping to re-group at the top of slight inclines. This is a great opportunity for those who are getting on their bikes possibly for the first time and / or returning to fitness. Remember to make sure that your bike is in good working order. Wrap up warm, bring your helmet, a spare inner tube, bike lock and money for tea and cake! See you there!
