Breeze along the Castle Eden Walkway

We start our ride at the small car park near Hurworth burn reservoir. Acess to this is from Hurworth Burn Road, 3miles east of Trimdon Village. We’ll use NCN route 1, this stretch is the Castle Eden Walkway. It’s a great traffic free route through open Countryside and takes us to Thorpe Thewles, where we’ll stop for coffee and cake at the tearoom. We return using the same route; the total distance is approximately 12 miles. However it is flat and is an ideal ride for newcomers or those who haven’t ridden for a while. We’ll ride at the pace of the slowest rider and no-one is left behind. Hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended. We advice you to wear a helmet and to check the local weather forecast so that you dress appropriately. It’s also a good idea to bring a drink and some money, if you wish to buy refreshments at the tearoom. Please note it is a rural car park at Hurworth Burn, it has no facilities.
