War Memorial Billington on Whalley New Rd (next to St Augustine school)

This is a slightly longer run than we normally enjoy but includes a great variety of climbs, descents, rolling lanes through the very best which our Lancashire (& parts of Yorkshire) has to offer. We start off from the war memorial at Billington (next to St Augustine school) travelling out via Whalley to Bowland fells We set out over to Slaidburn, then head North on a majestic climb, up up and up again, to Tatham fell before turning towards Wray and Caton. From there we head to the Trough of Bowland, a long and challenging climb but rewarded with a swooping descent to Dunsop Bridge. Then through Whitewell, we head for home via Chaigley. This ride includes some strenuous climbing and will be tough going as well as a long day in the saddle. But the rewards will be spectacular views (weather premitting) Total distance is 107 km (around 60 miles) and we expect to average approx 10 mph. All are welcome!
