Blast to the Furnace

Starting in Dark Lane Car park (bring money to pay for parking if you are arriving by car), we will head through the Town Park to pick up the Silkin Way. Just before Madeley we will cut off to pick up Rough Park way, which will take us all the way to Coalbrookdale. After a coffee/tea/whatever you fancy we will retrace our route back to the start.
The route is undulating, with a little climb back up Rough Park Way from Coalbrookdale- don’t worry though, you can always get off and walk and we will never leave anyone behind. The route is on trails
that can be muddy so a mountain bike or hybrid with off road wheels is the best bike for this.

An easygoing ride from Telford Town Park to Coalbrookdale, along trails and tracks, to the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.

This tide is 99% traffic free - there is a short section on road as we get to the cafe stop in Coalbrookdale.

We will stop at The Furnace Kitchen, at Coalbrookdale, for a drink and cake (no Breeze Ride is complete without cake!) and a chance to take in the history of the site.

You should dress for the weather - it’s changeable at the moment and can be chilly, so layers are a good idea, with a light rain jacket. Helmets are highly recommended for all and compulsory for those under 18. Your bike should be in good working order and you should have the means to fix a puncture, even if you need help (which will be given) to do that. If you do not have quick relapse wheels please bring a spanner to remove the wheel nut. Bring money and a lock for the cafe stop.
