At the Quarry Burn Pub, Hunwick

We will meet outide the Quarry Burn Pub in Hunwick and then follow the lane through to New Hunwick.Turn left down to High Grange then along past Low Barnes Nature Reserve to Witton le Wear. We will cycle through the grounds of Witton Castle for before continuing through  Witton Park and turning  left along Sloshes Lane to Woodside. From Woodside we will drop down the bank to Escomb to visit the Saxon Church and have drinks and refreshment at the Saxon Arms. From there we will pedal back up the bank to to Woodhouses then back into Bishop Auckland stopping by the statue of Stan Laurel for the obligatory photograph. We will then cross the Newton Cap viaduct before joining the Bishop-Brandon Railway line and turning off at Rough Lea Lane to wave goodbye at the Pub. I will be setting off from Broompark Picnic Area near Durham at 9.45am for those of you who would like a longer ride (31 mile round trip) and would not recommend this longer ride to anyone under 12. I estimate returning to the picnic area by 3.00pm latest. Please text me if you are intending to join me for the longer route and register as normal so we can ensure that noone is left behind!. As usual, please ensure that you come dressed for a change in the weather and bring sufficient money for refreshments along the way.
