Hawkshead village

Come and join  this truly stunning scenic route taking in the haunts of famous Lake District Author, Beatrix Potter. You’ll cycle past many places where Beatrix Potter lived and worked, creating her famous characters and books.  Starting from Poppi Red Café (http://www.poppi-red.co.uk/ride-and-park/)  in the picturesque village of Hawkshead, you'll do a quick loop of the village to pass the Beatrix Potter Gallery before heading out to the South East of the village along the side of Esthwaite Water towards Lake Windermere. As you pass through Sawrey, you'll get the chance to see Hill Top Farm, Beatrix Potter's first Lake District farm, now in the care of the National Trust. The route then turns North along the Western shore of Lake Windermere before reaching the grounds of Wray Castle near the head of the lake where Beatrix Potter came for extended holidays as a child and first fell in love with the Lake District  At just over 10 miles this ride is perfect for those wanting to get out on the bike, see some amazing views of the Lake District, and learn more about the local area and Beatrix Potter – and all without pushing yourself too much!
