Early Morning Ride to Harpenden along the Upper lea Valley Way

This will be a steady extended ride as compared to our usual Saturday Rides. A change to test your fitness. Its still aimed to include beginners but we will cover a slightly longer distance at a pace to ensure nobody get left behind.

The Upper Lea Valley Way is a traffic free walking and cycling route linking Luton with Harpenden. A confidence building easy ride. A ride packed full of countryside sights and scenery. We will be starting from the L&D Hospital, travel along the busway and passing Luton Train Stations. The real adventure starts when we hit the Upper Lea Valley Way. (Luton Greenway).

Because it will be an easy-going sociable ride, we will go at the pace of the slowest rider. The full route follows a straight line so it’s impossible to get lost. There is a nice mix of shade and gently rolling hills. The scenery is especially beautiful in summer with its array of beautiful colours.

Along the way, we will learn some history and meet the local heroes – Sculptures which were as part of a national artwork celebrating local heroes.

Now for the Covid bit….
Although Covid restrictions have been lifted we are asking all riders to be respectful to the other riders. Please do not attend if you have Covid symptoms.

Please remember to bring with you
- Helmet
-Spare inner tubes for your bike and appropriate tools, even if you don't know how to change an inner tube there are other people in the group to help.
-A water bottle with a drink in, cycling can be thirsty work.
