Starting point

Sandiway Library, Mere Lane, Cuddington, Northwich, Cheshire, CW8 2NS

This ride is part of the Northwich LitFest! the National Bike Week, and also the Big Breeze Bike Ride Weekend! This is a family ride aimed at primary and junior school children. Fathers are invited too, and they can register on the Sky Ride Social.  We will pedal along the quiet lane and forest tracks towards the Whitegate Way and back. We will see spring flowers and woodland birds. Maybe we will spy some woodland creatures! We will stroke the hounds who belong to Cheshire Hunt kennel, and give the woods their name. We will see the monument to the famous local hound the 'Blue Cap', which gives the pub it's name, and hear the story of his fame. After our bike ride, we will go back to Sandiway library for some indoor activities! we will hear a story and have some well-earned refreshments. Maybe we will read about dogs and puppies? We will ask Ryan Reid, our local PCSO, to security mark our bikes too!  You can park at Sandiway library, but the start of the ride is a brisk 5 minute walk away. There is also Cuddington train station nearby if you do not want to drive here. Try to arrive here at 9:30 am to give yourself plenty of time to unpack the car and get to Kennel Lane. The start of the ride is at the entrance to Kennel woods, Kennel Lane, Sandiway. Be careful crossing the busy road between the library and Kennel woods. Please arrive here at 9:45 am so that we can do an introduction and bike check before we set off. Be sure to get to the start of the ride in good time so we can leave promptly. You will need to be dressed for Spring weather with a cycling helmet, gloves and raincoat. Bikes should be in good working order with the tyres pumped up. I just can't wait to lead this wonderful Summer family bike ride! See you there! Claire :-) ..and there is more... Helmets must be worn by anyone under 18 years.  Younger children must be on a child seat fixed to the adult's bike, on a trailer or tag-along bike, your child must be a confident rider if they are on their own bike. Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Please bring along equipment to fix a puncture - ride leaders will try and help you out, but are not responsible for your bike. Breeze really welcomes new riders, bring a friend or come on your own - don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Tel: 01606 888065
