Beginners ride to Newbank

We will ride from the Burrs towards Bury and then we get onto the Daisyfield Greenway. After cycling on the lanes behind Elton reservoir we will cross the Metrolink line and eventually come out onto Bury road. After cycling down a short section of main road we will stop off at Newbank for some refreshments. Our return journey may include a ride along the canal into Ratcliffe before returning to our starting point . This will depend on the group and their wishes on the day.

This ride is especially suitable for beginners. We will take a leisurely ride down to Newbank Garden centre. Depending on the groups ability we will either take the same route back or we will cycle down the canal into Radcliffe before returning to the Burrs.

Most of the route is on quieter roads, there will be some trail paths and a very small section of main road that we will tackle together.

We are planning to stop at Newbank Garden centre for a coffee and cake or lunch. This will give the group resting time before we cycle back again.

Although helmets are only recommended by law and not deemed essential, anyone not wearing one will not be able to join the ride. Please bring spare inner tube, bike levers and pump. Also have a back up plan if you are not able to repair your bike if you have mechanical problems. Please bring a lock for your bike for when we are eating at the cafe.
