The route along the Crab & Winkle Way is fairly flat with some undulations. There are three short hills that some may find challenging, and if this is the case, push your bike up those steeper inclines. The surface along this route is in most places either tarmac or a fine gravel/fire track. There is one section that is slightly more flinty than the rest, and this is through the farm.

Leaving Tankerton we will ride on quiet residential roads, picking up the C&WW at Ivy House Road. Once arriving at UKC, we will grab a quick coffee/cake at the Gulbenkian Theatre cafe before returning and retracing our tracks.

A ride for beginner and returning cyclists. A nice and steady, no pressure to impress, ride from Tankerton along the Crab & Winkle Way to one of the cafes on the University of Kent campus.

Some quite residential roads, and then mostly off-road on fire tracks and some unmade pathways.

Cafe on the University of Kent at Canterbury Campus.

Helmets are compulsory on this ride. Also needed is a spare inner tube for your bike, the necessary tools to remove your wheel and tyre in the event of a puncture; essential medication you rely upon; fluids. Your bike must be in a roadworthy condition.

First-timers welcome!
