This Series of rides is for anyone who has perhaps cycled as a child, rarely been on a bicycle since then. It doesn't matter how big, small, young or old you are. You can bring along a bicycle of your choosing as long as it is rideable. The purpose of these rides is to start almost from scratch and go through the fundamentals and basics of cycling; how to check your bike, balance, safety, signalling, distances, adjusting saddle to fit you. If the weather is inclement, i.e. light drizzle, the events will still go ahead and we may move Series 1 to an indoor location. If it is raining, it will not go ahead. If the weather forecast is rain but it is not raining then it will go ahead. Please dress warmly and include hi-viz, back and front lights and water for drinking and any light nibbles or energy snacks. If you are unsure, please text or call me on 07804 766847. Series 1: The first of the Series will be done in a completely off road, flat and safe environment, free of any traffic or people. The first of the Series will last approximately 1 hour. The total cycling distance on the bike may be up to 2 miles. Tea/coffee break at end at Costa at the Rapids. (approx 2 hours in total) Series 2: Will be partially on a completely off road, flat and safe environment, and may move to a location that is still off road, but may include pedestrians sharing the pathway. The total cycling distance on the bike may be up to 4 miles. Tea/coffee break at end, either at Costa at Rapids or en route. (approx 2 hours in total) Series 3: Will be partially on a completely off road, flat and safe environment, but may include some cycling on a public towpath or cycle path suitable for all types of bicycles. The total cycling distance on the bike may be up to 8 miles. Tea/coffee break en route and/or at Costa at the Rapids at the end.(approx 2.5 hours in total) Series 4: Will be partially on an off road, flat and safe environment, but may include cycling on a public towpath or cycle path suitable for all types of bicycles, and may include some cycling on a road. The total cycling distance on the bike may be up to 8 miles and may include some very small hills. (approx 2.5 hours in total) Series 5: Will be partially on an off road, flat and safe environment, but may include cycling on a public towpath or cycle path suitable for all types of bicycles, and may include cycling on a road or roads, stopping at junctions and intersections, using hand and arm signals, and riding in close formation as a group. Distance may be up to 10-12 miles and may include some hills.(approx 3 hours in total) Series 6: Will be partially on an off road, flat and safe environment, but may include cycling on a public towpath or cycle path suitable for all types of bicycles, and may include cycling on a road or roads, stopping at junctions and intersections, using hand and arm signals, and riding in close formation as a group. Distance may be up to 12-16 miles and will include some hills. (approx 3 hours in total)
