If you are looking to cycle on the roads but need some skills and practice, this ride is for you. It's an easy quiet route designed to build confidence and allow you to practise basic skills. The ride is led by a qualified ride leader and coach, with an assistant, to support you. We'll begin by practising some skills at Harrow Cycle Hub and in Kenton Recreation Ground and then cycle via Byron Park to the quiet streets north of the park. We'll practise road positioning, riding in pairs and singly and negotiating junctions. On the way back we'll stop at The Pantry for refreshments and you can ask any questions you like.

This ride is designed to prepare you for longer rides in a no-pressure atmosphere with other beginners. You need to be able to pedal, balance and ride at least 100 metres without stopping and your bike must be in full working order. Use this video https://www.cyclinguk.org/article/video-guide-what-do-setting and if in doubt take your bike to a mechanic or bike shop. Use the Message Leader function if you have any queries.

Bring water, a bike lock and money for the cafe; check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Wear non-baggy comfortable clothing which will not get caught on the bike.
