A BATH at Bishop
Start at Meadowfield Leisure Centre DH7 8RG
Join us for a bike ride to visit Bishop Auckland Town Hall (BATH) where we can have a cuppa while gazing at the mighty Norman Cornish Miners Gala painting which was moved here from County Hall during lockdown.
We’ll pedal on our outward route via Sunderland Bridge and Spennymoor before taking the back roads via Binchester to Bishop Auckland. Here we will have refreshments in the town hall cafe. Our return will be shorter along the Brandon to Bishop railway path.
Our pedalling will be largely traffic free with a few sections of quiet road and some uppy downies. This is not a beginner’s ride but best for those with a reasonable level of fitness and wanting to build up confidence mileage wise while also enjoying some of Durham’s lovely countryside. It’s likely to be chilly so please ensure you’re suitably dressed.
The railway paths are mainly a good surface so will be suitable for all bikes apart from very skinny road tyres, however they can be muddy in the winter. Make sure you’ve got a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to return to Meadowfield for about 3pm.
We will be keeping a keen eye on the weather forecast in the lead up to the ride and if we need to make any decision to cancel or amend our plans we’ll do so by 8.30am on the morning and let you know via the conversation tab within the ride booking system.
For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07708327943 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride and is not switched on at other times) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk.
