Basingstoke (Winklebury) to Oakley

This gentle ride to Oakley uses cycle paths and side roads, with (usually) a café stop there. This time we’ll add a small loop through Malshanger. We’ll meet at Winklebury Football Complex, Winklebury Way,Basingstoke. RG23 8BF. (Co-op end of Winklebury Way). The car park there has a height restriction but there is an alternative car park more or less opposite, next to the Winkle pub. We go out to Oakley on the cycle path next to Pack Lane. (This path is slightly bumpy in places.) Followed by a loop through Malshanger. Then retrace the path and home via Roman Road. The route is undulating with a couple of short hills. Skinny road bike tyres wouldn't be much fun on the path out to Oakley.. Apart from that any bike type is welcome so long as it’s in working order. Wear clothing comfortable for the weather that won’t get caught in your chain etc. Bring a spare inner tube (preferably plus puncture repair kit) and money (for café stop).
