Basingstoke: Trip to the Hospital (and more!)

This continues the series of routes around Basingstoke Town Centre taking mostly cycle paths or quiet roads so ideal for finding new quiet routes and how to join them up, or trying night riding for the first time. New start location this week for a bit of variety and making easier for people this side of town to get there on time. If you want to join us at a point on the route, get in touch this should be possible. This route passes by the Hospital should you ever need to visit you'll now know a quiet route to ride there not involving main roundabouts or the A340! Lights front and back are a legal requirement - you should also test your front light in a darker (non-streetlit) area to make sure you're happy to ride in some darker areas. Note the leader will have a bright light to help. Contact us if any queries once you've have a try. Bike type: hybrid (i.e. thicker a little bit nobbly tyres) ideal, mountain bike is fine, road bike you would probably get away with but it's not a road/race bike ride due to a couple of bumpy cycle path sections. I wouldn't personally choose it for this route. I will update this post once I have pre-ridden the route nearer the time - I also need to check the exact best route through Rooksdown and will update.
