Basingstoke: Night ride to Crabtree (mostly cycle paths/ quiet roads)

Around 11 mile evening/night ride to the town parks from Hatch Warren - mostly on cycle paths that are on or off road.   Past sunset = legal requirement for lights etc. front and back. And also wear something that is as visible as possible for the short on-road sections. I will have a bright light and some spare hi viz bibs we can use if required.   This is suitable for hybrids or mountain bikes. If it is dry, you will get away with a road bike but the path through Crabtree is bumpy/gravelly and the final section near Old Basing will be muddy if wet. You will also be more prone to punctures which is not fun in the dark!   Here is the likely route:   https://www.goskyride.com/SCG/ViewRouteBlank?routeID=2474   There are a few junctions to cross hence it will not be a speedy ride but there is the Crabtree hill challenge to give you a target! It is short and can walked if needs be.   If you are used to riding faster, you will be slower in the dark naturally so put on/carry an extra layer. Gloves of whatever sort you have the more wind proof the better as hands do get cold easily as they get the wind.
