Basingstoke: Brookvale to Winklebury loop

The plan is to increase the distance covered compared to that last week ( by adding an extra loop) while keeping the same pace. We may do this by extending up to Popley or by repeating part of the route (depending on whether anyone new signs up). This means it should be possible to do this as a 6 mile or 9 mile ride - we can discuss before we set off. This is a good starter ride with us if you've mastered the basics of bike riding. Please do come a bit early so we have time for introductions etc before setting off. There is some (quiet) road riding and also some cycle paths. - You can bring any bike that’s in good working order – make sure your tyres are well inflated. - Bring a spare inner tube (if you’re not sure what size you need - check the tyre size / markings then ask at a bike shop) - (Also a pump if you can) - It’s best to wear layers – it can get chilly in the evening. - Bring lights (the nights are slowly drawing in!) We will head on the cycle path parallel to Churchill Way, up past the waterworks to Houndmills then either- along Winklebury Way and cross Worting Road by the railway bridge. Continue past Buckskin then return via the Leisure Park and Brookvale or - a route round Popley.
