With around six weeks to go to the Basingstoke Half Marathon, we'll ride the route to see just what it's like - on two wheels rather than two legs! Some come along if you're running, thinking of running, just want to try some hills, or want to see what the runners are getting themselves into and be glad you have wheels :-) It is described as a 'challenging' run course which means some 'undulations' to pedal up. Unfortunately for us it is not closed roads, so we will take care on the busier sections leaving War Memorial Park and on the return coming down Farleigh Hill. Fortunately for us, we have some great downhill sections to enjoy freewheeling down. The Basingstoke Half Marathon Route starts at War Memorial Park, heading out to Cliddesden, Ellisfield and Farleigh Wallop and back. We'll meet under the bandstand at the entrance to War Memorial Park by the Party Workshop on Hackwood Road. It will be a reasonable road riding pace we'll keep the group together at busier points with opportunity for you to go your own pace test yourself up the steeper hills. Please bring lights in case we get any delays or it is overcast as we will be on short sections of busier roads. You can come on a mountain bike if you know you're OK at this pace.
