Starting point

SN1 7BH

Barbrook Road carpark, on the corner of Barbrook Road and East Wichel Way in Wichelstowe, Swindon.

This is a monthly traffic free ride over to enjoy Lower Shaw Farm's Wednesday Cafe, aimed at women (mum's/aunties/grandma's/carers etc!) with babies/toddlers in a trailer or rear/front bike seat. We'll meet at Barbrook Road car park in Wichelstowe for a 10am departure. We'll then use the cycle paths to head out past Waitrose to the back of John Lewis where we can pick up other riders in the rear overflow car park. From there, we'll stay on the cycle path which will take us to the Link Centre Library, where more can join us before we head up the slight hill at the back of the cinema and on to Lower Shaw Farm. We'll arrive at Lower Shaw Farm at approximately 11 am. The farm has animals and a covered outdoor play area. It is free entry but they do ask that we buy something from the cafe, so please bring some cash with you for a cuppa. It is all homemade and they do delicious cake as well as lunch options. We'll bring our bikes on to the farm, but you may want to bring a lock. We'll then leave Lower Shaw Farm at approximately 11:30am (this is flexible, depending on the group). Collection points and times: 10 am @ Wichelstowe - 7 miles round trip, 1 hr 10 minutes riding (including stops), 1.5 hr total 10:15 am @ John Lewis - 4 miles, 40 minutes riding, 1 hr 10 total 10:30 am @ Link Centre - 3 miles, 30 minutes riding, 1 hr total * NB. 1. When registering for the ride, please drop me a line to say where you'll be joining us (Wichelstowe, John Lewis, Link Centre): 07811 447636 2. These times are based on an average speed of 7 mph. I'll adjust times as the ride establishes itself in accordance with how we're getting on. 3. The Wednesday Cafe is open term time only so although monthly, the date works around the school holidays so isn't a regular '1st Wednesday'. Check the dates listed and add them to your diaries!
