Astley Amble

Why not join in this canal side ride from Wigan Pier taking in the delights of Leeds Liverpool Canal - Leigh Branch all the way to the outskirts of Astley. This ride is approximately 20 miles in total but as along the canal is relatively flat with a few bridges to negotiate and a short section along Manchester Road to the rest stop. As this is one of the longer rides a lunch stop at The Cart and Horses Pub at midpoint will be available so please bring cash if you want to get lunch and/or a drink. The trail is a mixture of imprinted concrete, crushed gravel paths and short road ride suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids without slick tyres. Wouldn't advise anyone to attend with a road bike.
