Looking for something outdoorsy to do with the children this holiday? They are welcome on this ride with a parent. This is a wonderful relaxing route around Ashtead and Epsom Commons. There are no roads on the route. If you wish to get to the tea shop at the end there is 150 yards or so of main road which can be walked.  This 6 approx mile route is mostly flat but has a couple of gentle ascents and descents, and a couple of exhilarating downs! Dependent on how much we walk, this ride will be between 1 and 1.5 hours, the other half hour is for possible delays.  We will ride over Ashstead Common; the first half mile of the ride is on a permissive horse ride and could be muddy, but we can walk if it is bad! It's a bit of a puff to get to the top but the rest of the ride is on good if rough surfaces. We then turn left for a glorious mile and a half through the nature reserve, stopping by the pond for a breather and then returning through Epsom Common and back to our cars. There is a tea shop which does great homemade cake just a 2 minute cycle from our cars! This is a good ride for beginners, capable children and newcomers to Breeze.  It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack.  Please dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed. Please wear suitable footwear for the muddy parts! Please wear a helmet if you have one, although you can still ride without. Please note this ride is not suitable for road bikes, you will need fat knobbly tyres!  If you have any questions please get in touch on our Breeze network East Surrey – Antonia’s bike rides Facebook page. For more information on other Surrey Breeze bike rides search the activity finder or our Breeze network East Surrey Facebook page. Please note there are two different Facebook pages for East Surrey Look forward to seeing you there! Antonia
