Ashridge Gardens with Tea and Cakes - Big Breeze Bike Ride by Kate Campbell Suitable for: Women and Children aged 11+ (children 11-15 with adult) Saturday 22nd June at 2.00pm  We start this ride by cycling twice around the beautiful grounds of Ashridge House – so you can familiarise yourself with your bike if it’s been a while since you’ve ridden.  We then leave Ashridge grounds and cycle through leafy woods downhill to the lovely hamlet of Frithsden.  Here we turn round and make our way back up the steady slope to Ashridge, where tea and home-made cakes will be our reward! This is an 8.5 mile ride with a bit of a pull back up to Ashridge – we ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind, and you can always get off and walk up the hill.  There will be little traffic to contend with.  The route is all tarmac or paths – suitable for all types of bicycles. Because this ride is part of the Big Breeze Bike Weekend there will be extra activities organised at Ashridge – with the opportunity to get your bike checked out by the Bike Dr (mobile mechanic) and find out more about Breeze.   It's a good idea to bring some water. Definitely bring some money for the Ashridge refreshments! Dress appropriately for the weather and please bring a puncture repair kit. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please don't worry, you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. Helmets are required for under 16s.
