Ashbury - Blowing Stone Loop

From Shrivenham we head toward Ashbury, Pick up the Wantage road but drop down at Compton Beauchamp and head for Uffington. Our climb is at Fawler (ok to walk it) then we seek out the famous Famous stone and then make our way through Baulking and Fernham before the Coffee Stop and Longcot to return to base

A chance to discover a little of Oxfordshire's quaint history as we visit the Blowing Stone mentioned by Thomas Hughes in his "Tom Brown's School Days". for more info see https://www.kingstonlisle.net/the-blowing-stone. There is a short sharp climb on this route but once it's done it's done and you'll still have enough breath to try blowing the stone when we get there

We will be on the country roads and lanes around Shrivenham, Ashbury and Uffington

On our return journey we will stop at the popular Farmer Gow's

Don’t forget a full water bottle with your favourite thirst quencher. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted-on then a spanner that fits the wheel nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or debit card for the refreshment stop. Some place’s only take card payments.
