This is a super ride which takes in country lanes, canal paths and bridleways, cycleways, roads and main roads. We leave the Antrobus TeaRoom and head down into Warrington via Appleton Thorn and Hill Cliffe. Then using a mixture of cycleways, roads and the TransPennine trail we go round the west side of Warrington, crossing Sankey and Westbrook till we pop out at Burtonwood. We skirt some of St Helens (Derbyshire Hill, Parr Stocks and Peasley Cross) ending up in the centre of St Helens - cycling round the Totally Wicked Stadium and over the bridge to the Vera Page Park with its iconic statue and the Glass Museum in St Helens for lunch.
After lunch, and a quick wander round the museum, we will return via the Sankey Canal Path, past the Nine Arches and the Trans Pennine trail. Once South of the Ship Canal we will head up the Old Chester Road on the dedicated cycle lane, and then turn via Walton to the Old Warrington Road, Pillmoss Lane and Higher Whitley. The route back into Antrobus will be via Foggs Lane and Knutsford Road.

We will ride at an easy pace of about 10mph, and make sure that no one is left behind. Whilst quite a long ride there are no real hills to speak of. But we will make short stops along the route to check everyone is happy. We may stop at Woodies in Burtonwood for a cup of tea, if we want on the way out.

You'll need a road worthy bike. Helmets are strongly recommended. We also recommend you bring a pump and a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit. Do bring a lock as well and please bring your own drinks and snacks or money for meals, if required.
