About the route

A cracking little ride today, and another that although shorter on distance is certainly not short on character. Today Steve takes us from Padiham and over Sabden Fold. From here it’s one of the finest shorter rides that we offer around excellent history packed Pendle country. We ride through Barley, Roughlee, Sabden, Pendleton and Downham to name just a few. The latter is one of the most charming villages I’ve ridden through. Look closely and you’ll note the lack of yellow lines, road markings, satellite dishes and other modern day things we all now take for granted. A ride through Downham is very much a ride back in time. From here we take West Lane, an idyllic quiet lane taking us over to Worston, a village that has one of the areas best pub/restaurants, the Calf’s Head, on another day a visit here is highly recommended. A coffee stop will be at Downham, you may want to bring your own sandwiches and just grab a coffee, there aren't many more options on this ride. So, why not come along and meet our warm friendly bunch, who encourage each other on the tougher sections. There's always room for more riders, why not come along and join us, you may just enjoy the morning. Kev
